After ten uneventful days, a fog sets in around the Poseidon. Varden Erin Kenzeigives the crew a talk on ecology. Just as he gets to the part about "raping the wilderness," the anchorman spots a ship about 100 yards off the port bow.

As the ship bears down upon them, they see that it is old and decayed, the masts are splintered, and the sails are all but gone. The crew attempts to hail the ship but their cries are ignored as the ship readies to ram the Poseidon.

After a couple of arrows pass harmlessly through the attacking ship's crew, Varden realizes that they are up against a ghost ship. Unable to turn the ship, Varden casts a protection from evil 10' radius on the point of impact, bringing the ghost ship to a full stop. He then removes curse on the ship releasing its crew from their ethereal bondage and the ship dissapears.
