Cairceint (care-SAINT) lies on the StÅraz river in the Kindom of Cantaware and is it's capital.
Inhabited by elves for millennia, the settlement was captured by humans shortly after Clausus Drusi's invasion of A.I. 797. The conquerers rebuilt the city, with new streets in a grid pattern, a theater, a temple, a forum, and public baths. Two centuries later, they built an earth bank around the city and a wall with seven gates.
When the First Empire withdrew from Cambria in A.I. 1164, the city was abandoned, save for a few farmers. Over the next century, human migrants from Theodisca formed a community within the city walls.
The town suffered great losses during the dwarven raids of A.I. 1296, but was revitalized in A.I. 1351 when King Eormberht built his castle by the city walls after Cantaware. The following year, Maiorus Benniti began construction on both the Cathedral of Phoebus and a monastery.
Humans and elves make up about a half and a third of the city's residents, respectively, while dwarves and half-elves, in nearly equal numbers, account for another fifth. The remaining tenth is a combination of gnomes and halflings.
The city's main trades are pottery, textiles. and leather. Gold coins are struck at King's Mint.
Besides the castle, cathedral, and monastery, there are a half dozen temples, each dedicated to a different god. Other landmarks include the Dreahnimere Theater and the Imperial Museum.
