Porhwyg is located in Cymwyd Tyndaethwy, Cantref Ǫngullsey, Kingdom of Vendota and is at the eastern entrance to the Monena Strait, the tidal waterway separating the island of Môndywyll from the coast of Vendota proper.
It is the port of registration for all vessels in North Vendota, covering not only every harbor on the island, but also every port from Camyea to Brȳnbasn.
Originally a dwarven settlement, the current town began it's development in A.I. 1449 when Anarwd Ahpodri commissioned the building of Bexmark Castle as part of a chain of fortifications around the kingdom's coast.
The town was officially chartered the following year.
While the main industry of Porhwyg is shipbuilding, most of the merchants cater to the various travelers coming through town to conduct business.
Of the town's approximately 1,000 residents, roughly one-half are human, one-quarter are elves, one-eighth are dwarves, and the remainder are a mixture of gnomes, halflings, and half-elves.
Notable buildings in the town include Bexmark Castle, the courthouse, the old gaol, the Temple of Manannan mac Lir, and the Pentarw Inn.
